Here is a really rare Kentucky Staff Officers Coat Button recovered in Ringgold GA. A small town just north of Dalton. The Kentucky soldiers serving in the Army of Tennessee were part of the famous Orphan Brigade.This button belonged to one of the officers. The button depicts state seal of Kentucky, two figures shaking hands, "United we stand, divided we fall", intended for officers of Kentucky militia units, which were few in number but generally sympathetic to the southern cause. Backmark:"SUPERIOR / (star) QUALITY (star)" rmdc on stippled field, very sloppy stamping, made by Steele and Johnson ca 1850's, (Superior).Three part officer staff button, coat size.
