Always a toss up with me as to whether this pattern is actually US or CS, as most Dyer shells have 4 flame grooves in the sabot and this one has four as it should. It has CS Burton Painted a long time ago you can still see the writing sabot was recovered seen as pictured. It is a very nice battlefield excavated shell no dig site info–and fits a 3″/10 lb. rifled field gun.
