Civil War Colonel W. D. Mann, Model 1864 Patent Buckle on original infantry waist belt. This is similar to the M1839 waist belt plate locking device except more robust, and lacking the lead filling and US oval faceplate. It is really ingenious in that the functional parts are exactly the same gauge material as the lead filled plates. This allow the Cavalry soldier to slide his cartridge box around front without buckle interference. Rarely seen on its original belt. A friend purchased this rig from Shiloh Relics a few years ago.
