US INDIAN WAR ARTILLERY KEPI WITH VEST SIZE BUTTONS ON EACH SIDE OF THE VISOR. THE BUTTONS MARKED GFG REFERENCED ON RELICMANS WEBSITE. TOLD BY A FELLOW COLLECTOR IT IS THE GOVERNORS FOOTGUARD OF CONNECTICUT. THE BUTTONS DATE THE KEPI TO THE 1880S AND THE LINER IS MAKER MARKED WM. COEBILL HARTFORD CT. THE SWEAT BAND IS DETACHED AND THE TARRED VISOR IS SOLID AND THE STITCHING IS TIGHT. EXTERIOR OF THE KEPI HAS A FEW MOTH NIPS REFERENCED IN THE PHOTOS. THIS IS A NICE EXAMPLE OF AN ARTILLERY KEPI HAT FROM THE 1880S AND READY FOR ANYONES COLLECTION.
